In my daily travels I am often asked, “How long did it take you to write your book?” After many puzzled looks, head scratches, and deer in the headlights stares at my wife, I decided to find out the answer and share it with my readers along with myself.  I journal each and everyday so with the patience of a frog motionless on a lily pad on a breezeless day, I decided to just look back through the writings page by page, month by month and year by year.  As the smell of my wife frying bacon was wafting through the air conditioner’s vent in my office and permeating my nostrils to the point of pure pig perfection, I came across the entry that I was in search of written on January 4, 2013.  Had my meeting with Pastor on getting started with the book.  He touched  on a lot of things that I was unaware of so it was beneficial.  I love you Lord.  I’m getting over a cold as well.  The next day I began putting my thoughts and experiences into words.
I am also asked about the title of the book, Serenity Granted….Accepting Hardship as a Pathway to Peace, where did I derive it from?  Here is the elevator version.  As my life crumbled into pieces like gravel spread over an unpaved parking lot, I began what I can only best describe as the Rehabilitation Reunion Tour with me being the headliner.  Although at most of those stops I was not ready or willing to be regenerated, I did notice that most of the people who were practicing a meaningful recovery seemed to have a peace about them, serenity if you will.  I was a very sick man and I wanted what I was seeing but I didn’t know how to get there.  As you will read in a Chapter entitled Coming In Out of the Rain, dedicated to my mother, it was finally granted.  Hence the name!
Audience, I will be traveling to Africa on a mission trip from July 6 through July 18.  I am still going to attempt to do my scheduled Friday blog via Malawi, Lilongwe.  My book launch date is tentatively scheduled for August 13th and the even better news is the book is in production and will be available to purchase on line this month.  I will keep you informed, I promise!

I'm just glad that you decided to write! A lot of times people are given a gift and don't know what to do with it. I'm glad that you acknowledged your gift and decided to share your story with us.

I was a math and science "whiz" as you will read in the book. While writing was not my forte to say the least, its funny how one's faults, defects and shortcomings can catapult to the forefront when circumstances shape, bend and twist our lives like a piece of licorice candy. Thank you
