Good afternoon readers,

Recovery, at times, proves to be as challenging as going undefeated in a 16-game NFL season.  The addict sinks to depths that would crush most and they reach out to anyone who will listen with desperation as wide as a Deacon’s hopes.  They want help but are unsure of how to grasp, handle, and accept blessings that are staring them directly in the face.  Like reeds rising up from shallow lagoons looking to take a breath of fresh air, the abuser longs to be free of the chains that has them shackled like prisoners bound in a dungeon.  Just yesterday, I read a chilling account of a young girl caught up in the world of sex, drugs, and wickedness.  She wrote in the third person and at the end of her spine-chilling plea for help for the anonymous person, instead signed her name at the end. Riveting!  But, like so many help-seekers, when the knight in shining armor finally arrived to save the poor damsel in distress, she was nowhere to be found; a striking parallel that almost sealed my fate on numerous occasions.  Yes, we can lead a horse to water, but they have to drink of their own volition.

Fervent prayer for this individual is key here. Her battle is spiritual. Someone else must fast and pray for her that the LORD will break her chains of bondage.
